Amy's Adumbrations
I actually really enjoyed this book. At first I was a little weary, but you could understand the way the relationship had evolved. The mother is so vile in this book, I found myself angry as the characters let her get away with too much. It was very similar to a Virgina Andrews novel I've read called Flowers In the Attic.
Throughout the book you want it to work out, no matter how wrong. The book sucks you in and spits you out feeling wrung out and emotional. The ending is truly bleak, but I enjoyed it all the same. Really nice read. I would recommend to anyone!
I would give this book three Milky Way Magic Stars

I really enjoyed reading this one, too! You're right about the 'wanting to work out' bit. I knew it was wrong, but in the way it was written, I actually found myself wanting those two to be together, no matter what. The ending was rather bleak, as you say, and I was very sad about it, but, in all honesty, you can't expect a happy ending from a book like that.
ReplyDeleteIt still made me sad, though.
And I agree about the mother. Talk about a monster... She might not have beat them or anything, but her blatant absence and stupidity made me very angry at times.
short and sweet review Amy! lol, nicely done... I really cant wait to get my hands on a copy of this one!
ReplyDeleteI loved this book so much. Nice review :)
